چکیده

The paper examines the kinetics of the electric field induced, first-order transition from the commensurate to the ferro-electric phase in thiourea (SC(NH2)2) at 170 K. The satellite reflection from the modulated phase, locked in with a wave vector q = 1/9b∗ disappears when the phase transition is induced by a static electric field Ec along the a-axis. In order to study the kinetics of the phase transition, an oscillating electric voltage of rectangular shape was applied to the sample and photon events were acquired separately for ONand OFF-field half-periods. Results received in a series of measurements at different amplitudes between 0 and 500 V and frequencies between 0.125 and 512 Hz lead to the conclusion that a slow and a fast relaxation time play a role for the OFF → ON and the ON → OFF transitions, respectively. Further, the highest frequency at which the phase transformation still follows the switching of the electric field depends linearly on the applied field amplitude. A qualitative explanation of the experimental results is given in terms of nucleation and growth of specific ferro-electric domains.

Electric-Field-Induced Triplet to Singlet Transition in Size-2 Trigonal Zigzag Graphene Nanoflake

Using Hartree-Fock Su-Sheriffer-Heeger (HF-SSH) model, we have studied the dependence of the energies of the ground (magnetic triplet state) and the first exited (nonmagnetic singlet state) states of the size-2 trigonal zigzag graphene nanoflake (size-2 NF) on the intensity of an external in plane static electric field at zero temperature. We identify a transition from the magnetic triplet stat...

Effect of Calcination Kinetics and Microwave Sintering Parameters on Dielectric and Peizo-Electric Properties of(K0.5Na0.5) NBO3 Ceramics

An efficient solid-state approach was established to synthesize (K0.5Na0.5) NbO3 ceramics using calcination kinetics and microwave assisted sintering. Milling of carbonate and oxide raw materials were carried out for 15h to obtain homogeneous nano particles. The crystallite size of 5.30 nm was obtained for the KNN system after calcination through optimized parameters and observed to be stoichio...

Carlo simulations of the classical two - dimensional discrete frustrated φ 4 model

Monte Carlo simulations of the classical two-dimensional discrete frustrated φ 4 model Abstract. The classical two-dimensional discrete frustrated φ 4 model is studied by Monte Carlo simulations. The correlation function is obtained for two values of a parameter d that determines the frustration in the model. The ground state is a ferro-phase for d = −0.35 and a commensurate phase with period N...

Functionalization of the Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes by Sulfur Dioxide and Electric Field Effect, a Theoretical Study on the Mechanism

In this study, kinetics and mechanism of the sulfur dioxide adsorption on the single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNT) are investigated. Three single-walled carbon nanotubes, including the armchair (6,6), chiral (6,5) and zigzag (6,0) CNTs were chosen as the models and the different orientations of SO2 molecule relative to the CNT axis were considered. The B3LYP functional within the 6-3...
